PAVING & MAINTENANCE

Installation Criteria

1. Substrate layer treatment

The substrate layer must be clean, dry, firm and level. If installing over cement, be certain there are no hollowing, cracking, sugaring or surface pitting. Otherwise, repair floor until it meets these installation standards.

2. Snap a chalk line; locate the center of the floor

This can be done with chalk lines. Pull the chalk line from one corner of the room to the corner diagonal from it. Snap the line. Repeat with the other two corners. You will have a giant “X” running over the floor. Find the center of two opposite walls, and run a chalk line between them. Repeat with the remaining two walls. You now have four lines on the floor and a clearly marked center. If they are carpet tiles, please pre-install them without glue to check.

3. Gluing

If using the glue-down installation method, apply approximately 1mm thickness of glue on the sub-floor. When glue becomes dry and not sticky, lay in carpet tiles. When using the glue-down method, use double-sided tape to fix corners of tiles first.

4. Surface preparation

Lay the tiles along chalk line. Temperature of glue should not be below +10 ℃. If lower, take measures to ensure final laying quality. Use special tools to make sure all tiles fit together. Seams must be flush and patterns all run in the same direction.

For floors with pattern requirements, the gaps in the block material surface layer laid at the seams must be horizontal and vertical, with tight seams and consistent sizes.
